The international MBA curriculum typically includes both core MBA and international business specialization courses. For core coursework, students explore topics like general management, finance, marketing and sales, human resources and supply chain management. International business courses often focus on these same subjects, analyzing the way they are approached differently in various parts of the world. Other specialization courses are dedicated to specific regions of the world, such as Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
In contrast, some MBA programs focus solely on international business. Some of these programs allow students to specialize their studies in areas like global accounting and finance or global marketing management.
Like traditional MBAs, online international MBA programs often culminate in a capstone experience. This may require students to create a mock business plan. Internships are usually available, and may also be required. Another possible requirement is study of a foreign language. Some programs also require students to take part in short-term residencies overseas. While abroad, students attend seminars and complete workshops. Opportunities to visit international companies are also integrated into these programs.
